The Windows 7 Pirated Copy Killer is Here Just Don't Download It
Microsoft Releasing a New Update to Stop Pirated Copies of Windows 7
Microsoft just sent off its first attack on Windows 7 pirates with its new Windows Activation Technologies Update which Microsoft has available for download as KB971033. Whether you have a real or fake Windows 7, stay away from the KB971033 update.
In early February I wrote an article warning pirated and non-pirated Windows 7 users about a new Microsoft Windows Activation Technologies Update (KB971033) which is set to catch users that have installed pirated copies of the Windows 7 operating system on their computers [Microsoft to Stop Windows 7 Piracy with New Update Coming Soon]. Well, the dreaded day has come and the Microsoft update that I was warning you about has been released as the KB971033 Windows Activation Technologies Update.
If you are the type of person that updates their operating system every time there is a download available (which I never do), you may want to avoid the new KB971033 download available for install on Microsoft's website. Windows 7 users with pirated copies of the Windows 7 operating system has a lot (little) to worry about, but those that aren't running a pirated copy of Windows 7 still run the risk of this new KB971033 Microsoft update falsely identifying their version of Windows 7 as a pirated copy after they install it.
The KB971033 update is the first of its kind and knowing Microsoft, there is bound to be errors with the first of anything they release. Microsoft claims that the Windows Activation Technologies Update will not retrieve your personal information or really do anything more than change your desktop background and plague your computer with annoying update pop-up reminders - but you still wouldn't want your legit copy of Windows 7 marked as pirated.
The threat of the Microsoft Windows Activation Technologies Update (KB971033) doesn't seem like much of a big deal, but if you decide to install this update, it'll be at your own choice - and don't say that you haven't been warned. If you want to avoid the possible Guinea-pigging of this Windows Activation Technology update, all you'll have to do is simply avoid the KB971033 install available for download on Microsoft's website.
